Gooches Crater Hike

Hi Everyone,

this weekend I went on a scout hike to Gooches Crater

in the Wollangambe. It was a 6km trackless walk from Sandham Rd in Bell. On the walk we used compasses and topographical maps and instinct. The way there was pretty straight forward. We climbed up a couple of rock formations to get to the other side and continue.. At one point on the way back we were momentarilly lost and were trying to find the river crossing. The lunch we had was salami cheese and lettuce sandwiches with vitaweet bread and homous. We stayed overnight on the other side of the rock adjacent to the crater. We went on a walk around the rock and climbed down onto the crater edges which lead us around to the other side of the rock back to our campsite. For breakfast we had porridge that tasted like pasta. The stars were bright but we couldn't see most of them because of the tree canopy and the rock. We slept under the stars under a shelter that I and another scout built. It was fun and challenging and I got a lot of cuts on my hand. I quite enjoyed it alot.

Love,

Tom
