Urbanfood in Canberra

It was a long road trip to Melbourne and back. Down the coast road through Eden on the way then back up the Hume Highway home. Both ways had their great moments. Travelling is the journey not the destination. The trams in St Kilda were a cool way to get in and out of the city. Now we are home again.

13 Rooms at Pier 2/3 Hickson Rd Walsh Bay 11-21 April 2013

We went to 13 Rooms curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Klaus Biesenbach, the 27th Kaldor Public Art Project. There were lots of people queued up for this free event. One of the rooms was 45cm tall and had one person lying in it with a ceiling lamp. I didn't feel comfortable photoing this person in such an uncomfortable space. Another of the rooms I really liked as the artists were inside it on a small plinth - two young women - Sarah Clark and Nicole Beaumont - the artist was Clark Beaumont and the room called Coexisting 2013. The two women were twined around each other and spoke softly to one another. I thought that this room had a beautifully edged vulnerability and truth about it. This was my favourite room. I like the centreing effect of female energy.

Bebeah Gardens in Mount Wilson

On Easter Monday we travelled to Mount Wilson, to visit the Cathedral of Ferns and see one of the public gardens. We chose to visit Bebeah's 12 Acres of Magnificent Gardens, and they were magnificent. With walks and follies, a lake and a bridge. Maybe if you are in the Blue Mountains you can visit them for yourself. The cool climate of the Blue Mountains allows the early Autumn weeks to see in the first flush of autumn leaves and there is even a Turkish Bath House within the historical features of Mount Wilson. In the Church cemetary were the graves of past residents whose families listed the name of the properties they once lived in. The village is full of the trees of England and Scotland. Beyond the village is remnant Basalt capped soils leading to the rainforests surrounding this quietly beautiful place.

At the year's end

Hi everyone,
it wasn't the best year for my blog writing - hey, I was too busy out there living my life. However it was more technological you see I can't blog to possumhomeontherange with photos from my Iphone. Yes the awful truth about Apple's hold on inter app relationships as they prefer you to facebook, for which they no doubt receive $$. So that combined with my secondment to Oberon High School saw me only post to you when I finally got back onto the home PC. As those of you who follow my life know it was qualifying as a professional bush regenerator that shaped my life this year. Now field work is my favourite activity. However as soon as I have come back to my beloved Castlecrag for the holidays it has started raining, so its a good time to get out there and plant tube stock. Other than this it will be visits to Avalon Beach and Bookocinno with the odd side trip to the movies that keeps me going. I hope that you have a wonderful and amazing 2013!
love,
Terese
