Portrait Session NSW AG

Paul Morgan Deputy Director of SANE Australia met me at the NSW Art Gallery
to take my portrait and pick up a few other images for background detail
We used the Australian collection for backgrounds and I road tested some of the looks with a self portrait - here a Whiteley landscape of Bathurst and also a late Nolan mountain landscape captured in layers of spray paint.
The pictures that Paul took will be edited to find one great shot that will be used in a new series of biographies from consumers on the SANE Australia website from August 2010.

Winter Solstice

This year's Winter Solstice is on 21st June 2010 at 9.28pm. After this time a little bit more sunlight comes back to the southern hemisphere every day.

Whale Watching

We walked around the promenade to Shelley Beach from Manly, to catch the afternoon sun and to look at the ultramarine blue of the ocean. There were many snorkellers and kayakers out enjoying the water. Several sunbathers perched on the rocks. From Shelley Beach we walked up to the look out to see if we could spot any whales from the headland. Alas not. It was a good walk in one of Sydney's great locations to view the ocean from.

Tom Bass Sculpture Studio

This afternoon the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio held an open afternoon. Sculptors were working on their modelling and refining. A documentary was being shown about his work in Canberra. A silent auction for several sculptures was being run. Books about Tom Bass and his work were for sale. A fund raising sausage sizzle was happening in the lane way. Music was playing and people were interacting with and talking about art. We met Elizabeth a sculptor who specialises in making busts for casting.
